About this website
This is a personal website, created by myself to serve as a personal information hub. It was created after a long period of trying to figure out how best to put up a website serving as somewhat of a personal introduction. I was really encouraged to finally do a major overhaul after coming across the personal website of Garr Reynolds, who has a fantastic blog, Presentation Zen, which I can only recommend as a source for learning to do better presentations.
The website aims at providing not only an overview of myself and my interests, them being of professional or personal nature, but also a hub for links, resources and tips I would like to keep at my disposal if I am not sitting on my beloved MacBook Pro at home.
The site consists of three main parts, the public "Home Page", a closed "Personal" section that contains a lot of private stuff like photos, as well as a section I called "Lab". The "lab" section will be open for a while till I have figured out in detail how much and if I want to share the content freely. The links to those pages can be found below.
Again this is something I got from Garr, who referrs to an excellent article by Tom Peters on "The Brand Called You" in Fast Company. While this article has already been published in August 1997, but is still valid as it was written yesterday. There are two more articles that are worth reading, another article by Tom Peters, called "Brand You Survival Kit" of 2004, and "Brand Yourself" by Keith Ferrazzi, as well in Fast Company. is also worth reading.
Keith writes in his article about 5 key points to get people recognize that you have an area of expertise. 1. Talk about your expertise, with everyone you meet., 2. Prepare a formal one-hour talk with a deck of slides., 3. Write an article., 4. Write more articles., 5. Write a book. ... something that I will have to read into a lot more, most definitely. ;-)
Fast Company as an online resource for all kinds of interesting pieces on today's business, professional and personal world, is simply fantastic.
Blogs of Interest
A list of blogs I read can be found via the menu above and under "Resources", but in the course of the next few weeks I hope to post more blogs I read on a more or less regular basis sorted by subject/ topic.
